Helium is the world’s fastest-growing wireless network in history

Helium is the fastest-growing and most ubiquitous LoRaWAN network in the world. LoRaWAN (Long Range Wide Area Network) enables long-range transmissions with low power consumption. LoRaWAN devices also have geolocation capabilities. The combination of geolocation and long-range transmission creates an incredible opportunity for all types of sensor and tracking use cases:

Lime uses Helium to track the locations of scooters and eBikes
Airly uses Helium to measure hyper-local data about air pollution in your community

Hundreds of companies and thousands of developers are already connecting their IoT sensors to the Helium Network. Existing sensors, devices, and gateways can be easily configured to run LongFi — a powerful blend of LoRaWAN and blockchain technologies. As a result, these companies are able to affordably scale their operations up because there are no expensive cell contracts and the pricing is often an order of magnitude cheaper than traditional wireless networks.

The paradigm shift in Helium’s tech is a blockchain-based network that allows anyone to set up a Hotspot and expand the Helium Network. Hotspot owners don’t have to mess with GPUs in order to mine the Helium Network. Instead, they can purchase a simple device for their home or office and earn a new cryptocurrency: HNT.
